The primary purpose of this workshop was to build the capacity of the INP to detect and respond to various threats posed by biological toxins. Building on a previous biotoxin workshop held in March, participants returned to learn how to effectively train other INP personnel on proper response to the threats posed by low effort biological toxins, such as ricin, abrin, and curcin. HSP was joined by subject matter expert Dr. Christina Baxter, who led the training. Throughout the workshop, Dr. Baxter led lectures that honed in on the nuances of sample collection, with an emphasis on providing critical talking points for participants to emphasize during step-down trainings. This included various lectures on crime scene processing, emphasizing the sampling considerations to keep in mind for common low-effort toxins and their dispersal devices. HSP is looking forward to continuing to work with INP personnel as they conduct trainings at their institutions. for the LabFor (forensics) and Pusdokkes (medical response) teams of the Indonesian National Police (INP).
